Prepare for the Shot That Matters

A once-in-a-lifetime hunt may come down to one opportunity. There may be no second chance to correct an equipment issue, rebuild an unstable position, or recover lost confidence. When the investment is significant and the opportunity is limited, your gear, accuracy, precision, position, judgment, and preparation all matter.

Big-Game Hunt Readiness is personalized, in-person coaching for hunters preparing for demanding or high-stakes hunts. Training is available one-on-one or in a small-group environment and is tailored to your experience, equipment, destination, anticipated conditions, and hunting goals.

Whether you are preparing for a mountain hunt, traveling for a trophy animal, or pursuing the hunt you have dreamed about for years, this coaching is designed to help you arrive prepared and confident in your verified capabilities.

What to Expect

This is a hands-on training experience built around you, your rifle, and the equipment you intend to carry. The goal is not to fire the most rounds possible. The goal is to make every repetition deliberate and productive.

Depending on your needs, training may include:

  • Evaluating and validating your complete rifle and optic system
  • Confirming equipment reliability and ammunition consistency
  • Improving practical accuracy, precision, and confidence
  • Building stable shooting positions under realistic field conditions
  • Working with bipods, tripods, backpacks, trekking poles, and support bags
  • Practicing with the equipment you intend to carry on your hunt
  • Identifying equipment, positional, and personal limitations
  • Preparing for terrain, weather, time pressure, and other field challenges
  • Developing disciplined shot selection and sound decision-making
  • Recognizing when conditions do not support a responsible shot

No training can guarantee the outcome of a hunt. The purpose of this coaching is to help you better understand your equipment, confirm your capabilities, recognize your limitations, and make responsible decisions when an opportunity presents itself.

Your Instructor

Your training will be led by an experienced hunter and competitive precision-rifle shooter with a military background.

Your instructor has earned podium finishes in precision team matches, gas-gun matches, and international military sniper matches. This combination of military, hunting, and competitive experience brings a practical, well-rounded perspective to each session.

Instruction is personalized, adaptable, and focused on developing greater confidence, consistency, judgment, and capability in the field.

Required Equipment

Unless different arrangements are approved before your session, please bring:

  • The safe, serviceable precision rifle you intend to use on your hunt
  • A properly mounted optic with exposed turrets adjustable in either ¼ MOA or 0.1 MIL increments
  • Reliable ammunition appropriate for your rifle and intended hunt
  • A dependable bipod
  • At least one support bag; Armageddon Gear bags are recommended
  • Eye and ear protection
  • Your magazines, sling, and other equipment normally used with your rifle
  • Weather-appropriate clothing and sturdy footwear
  • Sunscreen, hydration, food, and any necessary medications
  • A notebook or device for recording information

Ammunition Requirements

Because many big-game hunting rifles use heavy-recoiling calibers, this coaching emphasizes deliberate, high-quality repetitions rather than excessive round counts.

As a general guideline, participants should plan to bring approximately 40–60 rounds per training day, unless otherwise directed. Your exact ammunition requirement will be determined by your rifle, caliber, training goals, and planned course of instruction.

All ammunition must be safe, reliable, and appropriate for the rifle being used. Whenever possible, it should come from the same manufacturing lot to promote consistency. You are strongly encouraged to bring the same ammunition—or an equivalent verified load—that you intend to use during your hunt.

Your final ammunition requirement will be confirmed before training.

Recommended Equipment

Bring the equipment you plan to carry during your hunt whenever possible. This allows it to be evaluated and incorporated into your training.

Recommended items include:

  • A laser rangefinder
  • A stable tripod suitable for observation or supported shooting
  • Binoculars for spotting from the tripod
  • Binoculars with an integrated rangefinder or a separate laser rangefinder
  • Your hunting backpack
  • Trekking poles or other field supports
  • Relevant ballistic and weather-monitoring equipment
  • Any additional shooting aids you intend to carry

Additional equipment may be recommended based on your hunt, location, goals, and anticipated conditions.

Identification and Liability Waiver

Before participating, every attendee must:

  • Present a valid, government-issued state photo ID
  • Review and sign the CR2 Training liability waiver
  • Comply with all applicable laws, range policies, safety procedures, and instructor commands

Anyone who does not provide valid identification or sign the required liability waiver will not be permitted to participate.

Firearm Safety and Participant Conduct

Safety is the highest priority during every CR2 Training session. Participants must handle firearms responsibly and immediately comply with all instructor commands, range rules, and safety procedures.

Any participant who has a negligent discharge or is observed behaving in a belligerent, reckless, unsafe, or dangerous manner will be removed from training and asked to leave the property immediately.

A participant removed for a safety or conduct violation will not receive a refund or complimentary reschedule.

Unless different arrival instructions are provided by the instructor or host range, all firearms must arrive unloaded and secured in an appropriate case.

Scheduling and Travel

All requested training dates are subject to approval by CR2 Training. A requested date is not confirmed until you receive direct confirmation from your instructor.

Before booking flights, lodging, rental vehicles, or making other nonrefundable travel arrangements, you are strongly encouraged to email Chris@cr2training.com to confirm availability and receive approval for your preferred dates.

CR2 Training is not responsible for travel expenses or other costs incurred before a training date has been confirmed.

Cancellation, Refund, and Rescheduling Policy

All payments are final. CR2 Training maintains a no-refunds policy.

We understand that unexpected circumstances may arise and will make reasonable efforts to reschedule your training for a later available date. All rescheduling requests are subject to instructor and range availability.

Cancellations or rescheduling requests submitted within 48 hours of the scheduled training are not guaranteed a complimentary reschedule. An additional training or rescheduling fee may be required.

CR2 Training reserves the right to adjust, postpone, or reschedule a session when weather, range conditions, safety concerns, or other circumstances make it unsafe or impractical to proceed.
